The PIRE-Southwest Center was founded in 1997 as the Behavioral Health Research of the Southwest. Joining PIRE in 2006, our vision is to continue to be a leading center that cultivates discovery, collaboration, and informed policy in behavioral health in pursuit of our dream of a healthy society.
Our mission is improving lives through research that promotes healthy behaviors. To accomplish this mission, we are dedicated to:
- Conducting high quality and socially relevant research;
- Scientific Integrity;
- A sustainable, productive environment;
- Public trust.
To accomplish our mission, we take a multidisciplinary and community-based participatory approach to our work to link science to practice. We believe that communication between scientists, public health professionals, policy makers, and community members is essential to reach our shared goal of improved population health and the elimination of health disparities.
Currently our research focuses on dissemination and implementation science, community-based participatory evaluation, and training and technical assistance. For additional information please our capabilities section.
