I am a native Spanish speaker with extensive experience teaching Spanish as a second language to diverse learners. This and my education in Spanish and Portuguese languages and literatures provides me with strong writing skills in Spanish. Originally from Ecuador and residing in the American Southwest, I have substantial knowledge of diverse Spanish speakers and their language needs and concerns. Since 2006 I have worked in the development and translation of Spanish language behavioral health-related materials, media, documents and survey instruments for populations both in the U.S. and abroad. I use a translation ‘in context’ collaborative approach that includes engaging with content developers and end-user review with target audience members to ensure subject content and linguistic accuracy, as well as, most importantly, cultural appropriateness.
