I am a Research Coordinator with over 20 years of expertise in research project management, and the ability to design, plan, and implement ideas from grant development through research publications. As an undergraduate I volunteered as a Sexual Health Peer Advisor, leading numerous presentations and workshops around the University of Texas at Austin campus. I also developed a “Sexual Health Jeopardy” workshop for large groups of young adults. Upon graduation I worked at the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston Substance Abuse Research Center (UT-SARC) as a Research Assistant, Data Manager, and Program Manager. My responsibilities included: initiation, maintenance, regulatory compliance, and quality control for numerous clinical trials; completion of Institutional Review Board submissions and correspondence; planning and implementing recruitment, screening, enrollment, and retention strategies; obtaining informed consent, administering assessments and conducting interviews including Addiction Severity Index, MINI, SCID and Timeline Follow-back interviews, as well as HIV pre- and post-test counseling. At UT-SARC I received my M.P.H. from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health, with an emphasis on Health Promotion and Education.
In 2006 my wife and I moved to Albuquerque, NM where I joined PIRE initially as a Research Coordinator. Shortly after joining PIRE I because the Site Administrator for Albuquerque Center. In this capacity, I coordinate all office and facility operations; organize and maintain administrative, regulatory and research records; assist in the preparation and negotiation of research and grant/contract application documents for the Center. Today I serve as a Site Administrator for both the Albuquerque and Louisville Centers of PIRE from my home in Fort Worth, TX. In addition to my administrative duties, I’m still able to follow my research interests in community-based participatory research to eliminate health disparities by serving as a Research Coordinator. Most recently this involves my work on our Reducing LGBTQ+ Adolescent Suicide study.
